HRA - Around Horsell Village
A Welcome in the Village and Local Area
Horsell is a quiet but dynamic residential village area located 1½
miles north of Woking in Surrey. It is bounded by Chobham, Woodham & New Haw, Woking town centre
and Goldsworth Park, and (with the traditional inclusion of Horsell East & Woodham ward) has a
total population of some 11,500 living in about 4,500 homes.
The village and its environs contain four designated conservation areas
(Church Hill, Horsell Birch, Holyoake Crescent and Wheatsheaf). A fifth conservation area, the
Basingstoke Canal, skirts its southern border and its northern and eastern residential edges
face Horsell Common, a protected heathland that makes up 80% of Woking Borough's common land.
Horsell's main annual festivities are the May Fayre held on Wheasheaf Green and the July
Horsell Village Show held in and around the Parish Hall.
